Slow Cooker Italian Sausage Tomato Sauce #MultiCookerMonday

 This delicious Italian Sausage Tomato Sauce is easily made in the slow cooker and was delicious served over spaghetti for dinner one evening.  There was enough sauce to use the remainder, sans sausage, over gnocchi a few days later as a quick and easy Meatless Monday meal.  That is a win/win/win.  A Slow cooker recipe that does double duty.

One Egg Dinner Cake #CakeSliceBakers


This light, fluffy cake is the perfect start to a wonderful dessert.  It takes only minutes to throw together and you only need one egg and items found in every cook's pantry.  You can make this cake your own by deciding how you want to top it.  I decided to make a gingered rhubarb chutney to serve with it.....soooooo good.

Magical Cookie Bars #SundayFunday

 Did your Mom make Magic Bars when your were a kid?  My Mom used to make them all the time.  These delicious bar cookies start with a graham cracker crust, topped with sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, pecans and coconut.  The end result is Magical.....hence the name.

Another Week Has Passed....Where does the time go??

One thing about doing a remodel is that while it takes a looooong time, that time flies by because you are so busy.  Over the weekend the mud guy came and finished off the walls, due to humidity the sanding of the walls didn't happen until Monday. 


The master closet with a cubby for storage.  A desk top will be under the window.  
Shelving will be above the cubby for the printer and supplies.

 Nothing beats the summertime heat better than a cold dinner with a crisp chilled glass of Rose.  This Linguine with White Beans and Tuna is ready in 15 minutes but can be made ahead of time if you want to take it to your next pot luck.  Served at room temperature and seasoned with olive oil, garlic and lemon it is perfect for dining al fresco.

Difficult? Yes....Impossible? No #WinePW

Cheese and wine is a natural pairing, right?  Well, not always.  Sometimes those stinky cheeses that I love so much, Blue, Gorgonzola, Roquefort, etc. do not play well with wine.  They are too strong.  Don't get me wrong I still put at least one on my cheese platters when serving wine. I would just ignore that it wasn't wonderful.


So when Linda of My Full Wine Glass invited the members of Wine Pairing Weekend to join her in sharing Wine Pairings for Hard to Pair Foods my mind went immediately to this pairing.

 We are traveling to Lesotho for this month's Eat the World Challenge.  Have you ever heard of Lesotho?  I hadn't.  Turns out it is a South African Country of over 2 million people located in the mountains.  


It sure looks beautiful.  I was anxious to learn about it and discover the foods they enjoy........

Garlic and Herb Marinated Chicken Thighs #ImprovCoookingChallenge

Chicken thighs marinated in garlic, herbs and sumac, a commonly used Middle Eastern spice, then grilled until slightly charred in spots and served with a yogurt dipping sauce.  So very delicious!!!


Our Improv Cooking Challenge this month is to share a dish using Yogurt and Sumac......

These Polish Dills are fermented rather than pickled.  Pickling means putting food into an acidic brine.  Fermenting gives you that sour flavor without any added acid.  You simply place the food into a brine with some spices and let it work it's magic.

Water, Wine and the Weekly Menu

We are heading down to the Waterfront this evening for a Beer and Wine Festival.  We are joining our friends, the Luths and our friend, Mickey for dinner at a local restaurant before heading to the festival.  I'm looking forward to it.  The best part is that it's only a mile down the road so we can walk it if the wines are too delicious to stop at a few sips.

 I have a confession to make....When Susannah of Avvinare invited us to join her in opening a bottle of Lambrusco this month, I was not very excited.  In fact, I thought about sitting this one out.  

I'm not crazy about sparkling wine, however I do enjoy it on occasion but I seldom, if ever, enjoy a sweet wine and I thought with Lambrusco I would be getting a double whammy.


But National Lambrusco Day is coming up and I love joining this group so I went onto Wine.com and was excited to find a dry Lambrusco.........
