The Winophiles are here to help you get ready to celebrate Rosé Day on June 14th.  We will be sharing reviews of French Rosé Wines, and some of us are sharing the meals with which we paired them.

Grande Réserve de Gassac Blanc 2021: A White Blend from Languedoc #Winophiles

Often called ‘The Lafite of the Languedoc,’ the iconic Mas de Daumas Gassac estate has been praised by top critic Hugh Johnson for setting “an example of excellence.” It’s a delicious blend of Grenache Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Viognier.

Fall is in the Air #Winophiles

Fall is a very busy time of year.  Folks are getting back to school and work, sports and after-curricular events are scheduled each night of the week. In this household, we are pulling out the fall decor, closing up the pool, and getting back to choir, as well as preparing to leave in 10 days for our trip to Egypt.

7 Generations of Women providing Grand Vin De Bordeaux #Winophiles

In celebration of National Women's Month our French Winophiles group was asked to share French wines by Women Winemakers.  I found this lovely bottle of White Bordeaux that made by Château Haut Guillebot, a winery that has been passed down through 7 generations of women winemakers.

Domaine Chevillon Chezeaux Bourgogne Hautes Cotes De Nuits, 2018 paired with a Maple Pecan Chicken #FrenchWinophiles

The French Winophiles are travelling to Bourgogne today, better known as the Burgundy region to us in the USA.  Here in the US we simply call it Pinot Noir or Chardonnay as we designate by varietal rather than region.

Celebrating Fall French Style #Winophiles

In France, wine harvest time is known as la vendange and spans about two months – typically from August to October.  Also, harvested during this time are root vegetables, mushrooms and chestnuts.  I was hosting a dinner party for our son in law's parents who were visiting from France and decided to celebrate by combining our harvest with theirs.

An Edible Cheeseboard and a Crisp Rosé from Languedoc #Winophiles

Looking for a fun way to start off your next party?  Whether around the pool, campfire or tv watching the game, this edible cheeseboard is going to be well received and the talk of the party.

edible cheeseboard

I made this cheeseboard on the grill because we were poolside and it was too hot to turn on the oven but as fall approaches I have visions of making it again to serve inside.

Cremant Wine Battered Perch; Michigan and French Classics Collide #FishFridayFoodies #Winophiles

Fresh Michigan Lake Perch dredged in a batter made with Cremant from France.  This was the crispiest, tastiest fish I have ever made.  Beer batter has been replaced with Cremant batter in this household.

Celebrating Spring with Raclette and Rosé #Winophiles

The French Winophiles are celebrating Joyeuses Pâques, the resurrection of our Lord and Springtime.  To assist us in this venture, Cam of Culinary Cam worked with  Kobrand Wine and Spirits  and arranged for us to receive some wines to pair with our Spring celebration.

We were not given any monetary compensation and, as always, all writings and opinions on this blog are 100% my own.

I was provided two bottles of rosé one still and one sparkling for this event.

Love is in the Air and We are Spicing Things Up with a Cahors Wine paired with an American Steak #Winophiles

February is quite the month.  Coldest month of the year for many of us, which makes us think about snuggling together to stay warm.  Of course, we also celebrate St. Valentine Day which encourages thoughts of love and tenderness.

 Cahors Wine

We celebrate Black History Month here in the USA where we acknowledge and appreciate  of our fellow brothers and sisters who have contributed so much to our American history.  It is American Heart Month and as always hearts are the symbol of love.  The Superbowl is played where we turn out to cheer and show love for our favorite team.

A Red Wine from Provence? Yes, meet Bandol; a New Old Wine paired with a Slow Cooked Goulash #Winophiles

The weather has been frigid here in Michigan for the last few days making me yearn for comfort food, a good glass of wine and a seat in front of the fireplace.  So I slow cooked a roast and turned it into Goulash because what is more comforting that pasta?  The answer?  Pasta with a glass of strong, spicy, hearty Bandol wine from Provence.

Slow Cooker Shrimp Boil paired with a Cremant Cocktail for a fun Holiday Celebration #FishFridayFoodies #Winophiles

Shrimp Boils are not just for summertime fun.  They can be just as fun during the busy holiday season utilizing your slow cooker to free up your time for gift wrapping and cookie baking.

Shrimp Boil and Kir Royale

I served my shrimp boil up with a traditional French Cocktail, a Kir Royale, often served at Christmas gatherings and inspired by the memoir, My Grape Christmas.

Supremes de Volaille a l'Ecossaise and a Chardonnay from Burgundy #Winophiles

Sounds pretty fancy doesn't it?  If you want it to sound even fancier, pair it with a White Bourgoin.  The results will be the same because White Bourgoin is simply Chardonnay grown in Burgundy, France.  And Supremes de Volaille a l'Ecossaise?  Well that, my friends, is simply, chicken breasts in a white sauce with vegetables.  Ooooh LaLa......

A Month Long Exploration of the Wines of Cotes du Rhone #Winophiles

I am very pleased to be able to host our French Winophiles group this month as we explore the wines of Cotes du Rhone.  Our administrator, Jeff of Food Wine Click, was able to procure some of us samples with help from Teuwen Communications, through the generosity of our sponsor, Cotes du Rhone.  All thoughts and opinions written in this article are strictly my own.  I received no monetary compensation for this post.
