Greek Wines outside of Santorini #WorldWineTravel

I just happened to be vacationing in Greece during this World Wine Travel event, in which Camilla of Culinary Cam invited us to explore up-and-coming wine regions.  I  was not too familiar with Greek wines, but I did know that Santorini is the most popular wine region.  I decided to explore Greek Wines outside of Santorini.

Sipping a Chardonnay from the Finger Lake Area #WorldWineTravel

Many years ago, before I began blogging.  Before the age of cell phones and portable computers.  Back when you used a camera with film that had to be taken in for development.  Way back then, we met our friends Keith and Kim in the Finger Lakes Region of New York for a Murder Mystery tour of the area wineries.

Enjoying the Hybrid Wines of Old Mission Peninsula #WorldWineTravel

The World Wine Travel group is gathering this month to discuss Hybrid wines.  These are wines made by crossing two grapes to make a new varietal.  In Michigan, we have many hybrid grapes.  Native to our State are Riverbank Grapes, most often used as ground cover or as food for birds and small animals.  They can also be turned into jams and are safe for human consumption.

The first grapes grown commercially in Michigan were juice grapes, Concord and Niagara. Michigan still produces much of the grapes used by Welch's in their juice.

Celebrating the Holidays with Friends, Appetizers, and Dominio de Los Duques Cava #WorldWineTravel

We had friends over for dinner last night to celebrate the season.  We started the festivities with appetizers and a bottle of Dominio de Los Duques Cava.  Spain's answer to Champagne.  Just as crisp, dry and delicious, and much more affordable.

It is time for the Holiday version of World Wine Travel where we have been visiting South America in 2023.

Celebrating Day of the Souls with Carbonada en Zapallo and Trapiche Cabernet Sauvignon #WorldWineTravel

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post.  I received wine for tasting purposes with the understanding that I would write an honest review.  All thoughts and opinions are strictly my own.  I did not receive any monetary compensation for this post.

I am in full-on Halloween mode here on the Farm.   All Hallows Eve is right around the corner and I have been making lots of fun foods and meals to celebrate.  When I was lucky enough to receive a bottle of Trapiche Cabernet from Mendoza Argentina for this month's World Wine Travel, I wanted to continue the celebration.

Blue Cheese Sauce to put on that Steak you are Grilling Up to Pair with a Malbec Wine #WorldWineTravel

This sauce is sooooo good that I had to stop myself from eating it with a spoon so that there was enough left for guests to enjoy with their steaks.  Sweet Vidalia onion caramelized in butter and then combined with Blue Cheese and Cream for a decadent, savory sauce.

A sauce this creamy and delicious demands a strong wine and this Malbec from Argentina was up to the task.......

Talinay Sauvignon Blanc from Limari and Souper Easy Enchiladas #WorldWineTravel

I was in Costco buying chickens to put on the rotisserie for Father's Day when I spotted this bottle of Chilean Sauvignon Blanc. A quick check of the label confirmed it was from the Coastal Region of Limari. Perfect for this month's World Wine Travel event.

Californio Enchiladas with a Chilean Chardonnay #WorldWineTravel

I make a lot of Enchiladas in this house as it is a favorite of our youngest child who still lives at home. This recipe, found at TASTE, is reported to have been passed down through the generations of families that arrived in California during the years of 1769 and 1833when the Missions were established.

Milanesa and a Pisano Tannat from Uruguay #WorldWineTravel

This classic Uruguayan Milanesa is made from Sirloin Steak, sliced and pounded into cutlets that are then breaded and fried to a crisp golden brown.  Chimichirri is the traditional accompaniment to this delicious dish that I paired with a Pisano Tannat.

Food and Wine of Patagonia and the Weekly Menu #WorldWineTravel

The World Wine Travel group has headed to South America this year to explore the wines, foods and cultures of this vast region.

Cam of Culinary Cam is hosting this month and invited us to join her in exploring Argentina saying:

For February's #WorldWineTravel event, let's focus on Beyond Malbec from Mendoza. That can mean (1) a Malbec from elsewhere in Argentina or (2) a different variety from Mendoza.

I love Malbecs so I went on a search for one made outside of Mendoza locating a bottle made by Catena Family Wines in Patagonia.

Chilean Crab Dip and a Modern Style Chardonnay #WorldWineTravel

Join us as we celebrate the Foods and Wines of Chile.  Welcome to a new year of World Wine Travel.  This year we are exploring the wines of South America.  I am happy to start 2023 off with an exploration of Chilean Foods and Wines.

Crab dip and Wine

I chose this topic as the foods and wine of Chile are easy for me to source in Michigan.  This is not the case with all countries as our liquor laws in Michigan are quite stringent and often it is hard for me to source the wines needed for our events.
