H is for Haluski

This traditional Polish Dish is fantastic as a Meatless meal or as part of a buffet.  It can be used as a side dish, but is hearty enough to be the main course for non-meat-eaters.

Chimi Burger #EattheWorld

In the Dominican Republic they call their burgers Chimichurri, not to be confused with the condiment served in Argentina.  The name is the same but these burgers known casually as a Dominican Chimi Burger are all about the sauce and the toppings.

Corned Beef and Cabbage Soup #FoodieExtravaganza

This soup is a great way to use up leftover corned beef after St. Pat's Day however it is so delicious that you aren't going to want to wait another whole year to enjoy it.  Luckily it is just as delicious using a thick slice of corned beef from the deli.

Pork and Cabbage Starting with Leftovers #Multi-CookerMonday

On Sunday we had a birthday celebration for our eldest daughter.  I made a very fall like dinner of Roast Pork Loin and Roasted Root Vegetables.  I had planned on making a 3 lb roast but my roast but the smallest in my freezer was closer to 5 lbs.

Pork roast

I thought about cutting part off to make boneless chops but it had already been frozen and I wasn't sure when I would get around to making the chops as I had a busy week looming.  I decided to roast the whole thing because then the leftovers could be frozen, if need be.

Blaukraut #FarmersMarketWeek

Fermenting is a great way to preserve some of the fresh bounty at the Farmer's Markets this time of year.  I made up a batch of this Blaukraut using red cabbage, onion and apple.

After about 10 days it was ready to be served alongside grilled Bratwurst.  The second jar will be great this winter, put into the crockpot with sausage for a one pot meal.

Korean Pork Tenderloin with Cab Franc from Saumur #Winophiles

When Cam of Culinary Adventures with Camilla asked the members of the French Winophiles to visit Anjou/Saumer and sample their wines, food and culture I immediately started researching the options.

I spoke with an agent over at Wine.com and explained that I was looking for a wine from the region.  I told her that we prefer dry red wines and she recommended two of them.  I bought both but have only opened the Chateau du Hureau, a Saumer-Champigny Tuffe that I will be sharing with you today.

An Ethiopian Dinner shared with Loved Ones #EattheWorld

This spicy, rich, chicken stew is traditionally served with injera and Ethiopian flat bread used as the utensil to hold the meat and sop up the sauce.  I served mine over egg noodles with a side of Atkilt, an Ethiopian vegetable dish containing cabbage, potatoes and carrots.
