Baked Ziti

All the flavors you love in lasagna come together in this Baked Ziti Casserole with a lot less fuss and muss.

Prep time: 10 MinCook time: 30 MinTotal time: 40 Min

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Ziti Noodles, Cooked per Package directions to al dente
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • salt and pepper, taste
  • 1 qt. Marinara, store-bought or Homemade
  • 1 c. Ricotta Cheese
  • 2 c. shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1/4 c. grated Parmesan Cheese

Instructions

  1. As pasta cooks, place the ground beef, onions, and garlic in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season with salt and pepper, and cook, breaking meat up with a wooden spoon until browned and crumbly.
  2. Drain any fat from the skillet and add the Marinara sauce and Ricotta cheese, stirring to combine. Stir in the pasta.
  3. Place 1/3 of the pasta in a casserole coated with cooking spray. Sprinkle with 1/3 of the Mozzarella. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  4. Sprinkle the Parmesan Cheese over the top and bake in a preheated 350* oven for about 30 minutes, until cheese is melted and the casserole is bubbly and browned on top.

  2. When our younger daughter was born and her father was due back to work after a too-short parental leave, my mom and a dear friend of hers came to help me for a couple of weeks. The friend was a delightful Italian American nonna named Lillian and she cooked the most wonderful baked ziti. Yours looks very much like hers, Wendy! I can't wait to try it!
