Ringing in 2026 on the Sixth Day of Christmas

Happy 6th Day of Christmas and New Year's Eve as we welcome in 2026.   I pray that this coming year brings peace, security, and safety to all those I hold close in my heart.

I thought I was on the other side of this dang respiratory thing I've had since Christmas Day.  I was unable to attend Mass and sing with the choir on Christmas Morning.  I plugged through Christmas Day, but fell into bed as soon as folks left.

Raechael took care of all the clean-up.  Best Christmas gift ever!!  The First Day of Christmas, instead of using my head and resting, we went to the theater and out to dinner.  Not my best decision ever....I went to bed as soon as we got home and stayed put for the next 24 hours, canceling our 2nd Day of Christmas celebration with Amy and Doug.

On the Third Day of Christmas, I started feeling a little more alive, but still spent most of the day resting.  I awoke on the Fourth Day of Christmas improved, but decided to cancel our 5th Day Celebration with the Bonacorsis and Luths so as not to share this "gift" with them.

That, as it turns out, was a very wise decision because when I awoke yesterday morning, that nasty bug that I thought I had evicted from my chest?..... It moved right into my gastrointestinal tract and made itself at home, laughing all the way.....

I am not ringing in 2026 tonight on the 6th Day of Christmas.  I can't seem to stay awake longer than an hour or two.  I have also canceled our Orthodox Christmas Celebration on the 7th Day, and was very distraught to learn that my Marina and Devin have the bug's cousin living at their house.

I had rescheduled game night for Friday, the 8th Day, yep.....canceled that too.  I'm feeling emotionally beaten up, too.  I anticipate this season all year long and spend months planning celebrations...few of which have come to pass this year.

So, I will remind myself of the reason I have all these celebrations.....THAT happens each year, regardless of any outside influence.  And perhaps this year the Lord wants me to celebrate him quietly as his parents did when he was born.
