My final Book Review of 2025

I just finished reading The Last Letter of Rachel Ellsworth.  I may start another book this year, but even if I finish it, I won't post a review until next year.

The Last Letter of Rachel Ellsworth

I wasn't sure I would have time to make any food to post with this review.  My options were absolutely endless.  This book is about following the trail of Farsi cafes, starting in Paris, moving to London, then to Marrakesh, and finally to Mumbai.

This trek is taken by a young Olympian snowboarder, Mariah, who was severely injured, which led to her losing her career.  She is following up on a book her mother, a cookbook author, had started before her death.  Unable to travel alone, she hires Veronica, a recently divorced woman who is trying to decide what the next phase of her life will be, as a companion/researcher.  They are joined by Henry, a long-time family friend and photographer.

So, it wasn't that there was a lack of food from which to choose; it was that Christmas was fast approaching, and time was short.  Then I came across this sentence when Henry brought a snack and tea to Veronica while they waited for Mariah to wake from a nap.

"The carved silver tray held a selection of apricots, dates, olives, almonds, and bread."

I was running out to the International Market for items needed for our Christmas Menu and added these to my shopping list to snack on while Frank and I worked our fingers to the bone getting ready for our celebration.

Snack Plate

I didn't have a carved silver tray, so this Christmas plate will have to do. I enjoyed this novel.  It is absolutely a Foodie Read, so I am linking up with Foodies Read over at Based on a True Story.  Stop by and see what the other foodies are reading.
