Italian Ice
Italy's version of a sno-cone is made with real fruit instead of just flavoring the ice with colored syrup. It is a delightful, healthy treat.
Ingredients
- 16 oz. strawberries, hulled
- 2 T. sugar
- 2 T. honey
- 3 c. ice, divided
Instructions
- Place the strawberries, sugar, honey, and 2 cups of the ice into a heavy duty blender or food processor. Pulse until small chunks are formed.
- Add the remaining cup of ice and puree until smooth. Pour into a baking dish and place into the freezer for a couple of hours until firm enough to be scraped with a fork and become slushy. Time will depend on the thickness of the mixture in the pan you choose.
- Scoop into a paper cup and serve.

ReplyDeleteYes, it was a fun coincidence Karen.
DeletePerfection! And we are super sensitive to those artificial food colors and flavors anyway.
ReplyDeleteExactly Kelly and this is so much more flavorful.
DeleteGranita for the win! Love it I don't know what a Lindy is either.
ReplyDeleteHe's not sure, he thinks it may have been named after the store.
DeleteWe are inching closer to ices, sherbets and other frozen treat weather. Love the color!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debra, the weather is finally breaking here, sunshine and 70's the last couple of days.
DeleteHow funny that Frank knew exactly what you'd made! Sounds like a great childhood memory. I can't wait till strawberries are in season here!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun, easy treat.
DeleteI love that this can change with whatever's in season at the time. We've got strawberries coming up, blueberries in July, blackberries in August. This will be so fun to make with my niece!
ReplyDeleteIt sure will Jolene.
DeleteLove that slushy strawberry cooler!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sneha.
ReplyDeleteLove this recipe without any artificial colour or flavour. Perfect as a dessert for diabetics as you've not added so much honey. Bookmarked for summer.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mayuri. I hope you enjoy it.
DeleteI would totally skip lunch or dinner during the summer for this lovely sweet treat! YUM!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is so light and healthy that you can enjoy both.
