Pork Tenderloin with Chocolate Molasses Gravy #ChocolateWeek

Chocolate isn't just for candy and sweets.  This tender pork with a chocolate molasses gravy is a wonderful entree to serve up to your Valentine this year.  It is quick, easy and amazingly decadent and delicious.

Pork Tenderloin with Chocolate Molasses Gravy

Chocolate isn't just for candy and sweets. This tender pork with a chocolate molasses gravy is a wonderful entree to serve up to your Valentine this year. It is quick, easy and amazingly decadent and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. maple syrup
  • 2 T. chicken broth
  • 2 T. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 T. ketchup
  • 2 T. molasses
  • 1 T. baking cocoa
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 t. onion powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/4 t. ginger paste
  • 1/4 t. yellow mustard
  • 1 T. olive oil
  • 2 pork tenderloins, trimmed, silver skin removed
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 1/2 T. cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 T. water

Instructions

  1. Combine the brown sugar, syrup, broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, molasses, cocoa, garlic, onion powder, salt, ginger paste and mustard in a small bowl. Set aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a large oven safe skillet. Season the pork with salt and pepper, and sear in the hot oil on both sides until golden brown. Remove to a plate.
  3. Add the gravy mixture to the skillet and cook and stir until hot and bubbly. Remove from heat and return the pork to the skillet, turning to coat with the gravy.
  4. Roast in a preheated. 400* oven for 20 minutes, until an internal temperature of 145* is reached.
  5. Remove pork to a cutting board to rest. Carefully return the hot skillet to the stove top and bring the gravy to a boil. Make a slurry of the cornstarch and water and whisk into the boiling gravy. Cook and stir until thickened and glossy.
  6. Slice the tenderloin into filets of desired thickness and place onto a serving platter. Drizzle with the gravy and serve along with extra gravy to add as desired.
  7. I served mashed potatoes with this roast and the gravy was perfect on them as well.
