The Sunday Funday Bloggers are cooking with Mushrooms today........

Sneha of Sneha's Recipe invites us this week to join her in celebrating Mushrooms.  Let's all go hang out with a Fungi!!!   We need some fun in our lives.

Caramelized Mushrooms

Look at these perfectly caramelized mushrooms that I cooked up while the steaks were on the grill.  The secret to these gorgeous golden brown mushrooms is to leave them alone!  You don't want to saute them but rather sear them on each side, starting with a single layer and flipping only once after the color you desire is achieved on the first side.

I love mushrooms and I cannot wait to see what the others are sharing.  Let's take a look.......

We had Kirsten's sister and her husband, Katrina and Dave over for dinner on Thursday along with her Mom and John.  Katrina and Dave came in for a family wedding and were scheduled to go home tomorrow, however, Caroline (Mom) is now scheduled for surgery on Friday so they will be sticking around for a couple more weeks.  This means that we should get to see them at least once or twice more before they return home to Arizona.

Strip Steaks with Mushrooms

I seasoned the steaks liberally with Montreal Steak Seasoning and grilled them to a perfect medium rare.  Then I topped them with the golden seared mushrroms.

I had some fresh Buratta in my refrigerator and decided to add that creamy goodness to my steaks as well.  This made for a delicious entree that was easy to prepare and impressive to serve.

Grilled New York Strip Steaks with Caramelized Mushrooms and Burrata

Perfectly seasoned steaks, grilled to perfection and topped with golden brown and caramelized mushrooms and smothered with burrata cheese.
Prep time: 10 MinCook time: 20 MinTotal time: 30 Min

Ingredients

  • 6 (8 oz) New York Strip Steaks
  • Montreal Steak Seasoning, to taste
  • 6 Large Button Mushrooms, Sliced
  • 1 T. butter
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 6 (2 oz) balls of Burrata

Instructions

  1. Season the steaks with the Montreal Steak Seasoning on both sides.  Let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  2. Melt the butter in a skillet large enough to fit the mushroom slices in a single layer.  Season with salt and pepper and cook over medium high heat without disturbing for a few minutes until seared to a golden brown.  Flip and cook on the other side for a couple more minutes, until seared and softened.
  3. Cook the steak to your desired temperature on a grill preheated to high, flipping once halfway through cooking time, about 4-5  minutes per side for medium rare.  Move to a platter and let rest for a few minutes.
  4. Divide the mushrooms between the steaks and layer on top.  Break open a ball of Burrata, lay over the mushrooms and serve.
