Midweek Musings

Frank and I went to our favorite Italian restaurant for dinner last night and then to our local theater to watch "The Butler".  We thought it was a very powerful, thought provoking, conversation starting movie.  We walked out of the theater shaking our heads at how far our country has come and how much further we have to go.  Cecil Gaines lived an incredible life.

I got up early this morning and started my pear butter using this recipe but instead of finishing the puree on the stove top I place it in the crockpot on high for 4 hours before continuing with the canning process.

These will make great Christmas gifts for Frank's coworkers when placed in a basket with a fresh loaf of home-baked bread.

Our daughter, Amy, is coming over this afternoon.  She took a half day off of work, is picking us up lunch from Panera Bread, and helping me with this blog so future posts should be much better.  Let me know what you think when you see the changes.
