Toscana Recipe Round-up

I watched the Netflix film, Toscana, and enjoyed it, so I invited my Movies and Munchies crew to watch it and get inspired into the kitchen this month.

I had been inspired to make Red Wine Risotto, and included my review of the movie in an Invitation Post mid-month.

Red Wine Risotto

This was a delicious dish that I served as a side to grilled chicken thighs that I had marinated in Italian Dressing.  You could definitely feel the love that went into this warm, comforting risotto.

Toscana

Amy of Amy's Cooking Adventures also found time in her busy summer to watch this film and created a lovely recipe to share.

Toscana is a Netflix movie that felt like a Netflix movie. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t fantastic either. It was basically like those Lifetime or Hallmark romantic comedies that pop up at Christmas time. You know the ones, an unlikely couple not looking for love falls in love with some self discovery on the side.
Marinated Mozzarella Balls

Amy made Marinated Mozzarella Balls....from scratch....yes, she made homemade Mozzarella Cheese!!
Amy was inspired to make this for the same reason that I was inspired to make the Risotto, saying....

Our main man slowly learns that the key to this well-loved restaurant is fresh ingredients and infusing love and joy into cooking….awwww….

I am so impressed with this wonderful recipe, and I am glad that Amy decided to join me this month.

Cam of Culinary Cam rushed in at the last moment.  She had watched the film and made the recipe, but then had to travel for a family wedding, and time got away from her.  I'm happy that she was able to share her risotto, inspired by the same scene as mine.

Risotto

But I opted to make the dish he first makes when he cooks with Sophia: risotto. The title of my post is because he tops it with all sots of flowers and herbs; Sophia heckles him: "What are you? A botanist?!"

I loved this scene, and I'm glad that Cam was also inspired by it.

Terri of Our Good Life also joined in at the last minute, sharing a recipe for a Simple Pasta Sauce.

Simple Pasta Sauce

Terri reflects upon the different food themes present in this film saying....

Unlike more complex culinary traditions, Tuscan food is rooted in simplicity and freshness.

This gorgeous and simple tomato sauce reflects that perfectly.  That's a wrap for this month's Movies and Munchies.  See you next month.
