Hot Honey Glazed Salmon #FoodieExtravaganza

Marinade and cook your salmon with sweet heat for a special treat that is quick and easy.  Perfect for Fish Friday before you head to your local High School for Friday Night Lights.

Hot Honey Glazed Salmon

September is National Honey Month and the Foodie Extravaganza gang are celebrating......

Hot honey

Suddenly, Hot Honey is all the rage and I was planning on getting some chiles and making my own.  Then I found this bottle of Mike's Hot Honey at the International Marketplace and decided to save myself the bother.

I purchased this hot honey for a recipe that I will be making for the Cake Slice Bakers group to which I belong.  When Sue of Palatable Pastime announced the theme of this month's Foodie Extravaganza, I knew I was going to be using that Hot Honey before I had planned.

Let's take a look at what the others have brought to this party.......

My original plan was to grill this salmon, but the weather didn't cooperate, so I pan-seared it.  You could also oven-bake it or broil it if you wish.  The marinade is simply soy sauce, olive oil, hot honey, lime, and garlic.  You use half to marinade the salmon fillets for 30 minutes and half to use as a glaze while cooking.

This recipe is wonderful with any sides that you choose.  It was hot and muggy with thunderstorms on the night I made this so I chose to place it on top of a salad and call it a day.

Make sure you stop by on the 20th of this month when I share another recipe using Hot Honey.  You might also enjoy these honey recipes.

Hot Honey Glazed Salmon

Marinade and cook your salmon with sweet heat for a special treat that is quick and easy.
Prep time: 3 MinCook time: 10 MinInactive time: 30 MinTotal time: 43 Min

Ingredients

  • 2 (6-7oz) skinless salmon fillets
  • 3 T. hot honey
  • 1 T. olive oil
  • juice of 1/2 lime
  • 1 T. soy sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine the honey, olive oil, lime, soy sauce, garlic and pepper.
  2. Place the salmon fillets in a plastic bag that seals and add 1/2 of the honey mixture, reserving the remaining mixture. Remove the air from the bag, covering the fillets with the marinade, and refrigerate for 20-30 minutes.
  3. Remove the salmon from the marinade and pat dry. Heat a cast iron skillet over med-high heat. Cook the salmon for about 4-5 minutes, flip, and cook for another 3-4 minutes until cooked to the desired consistency.
  4. During the last minute of cooking time add the reserved marinade to the pan and allow it to reduce. Flip the salmon so both sides are coated in the glaze and serve.
  5. Alternately you can bake in the oven or grill, brushing with the marinade during the last minutes of cooking time.
