Independence--The Day, A Book, My Thoughts

It seems strange to me that we are all celebrating Independence when we took such a backward step in our country.  But, we celebrated our Independence since this country's break from England's rule regardless of the rights of individuals throughout the years.

So, let us celebrate as we always have and appreciate the fact that we do live in a Free and Democratic Country where we can all go out and have our voices heard in the upcoming elections.  THAT is our strength, power and Independence.

3 Ingredient Slow Cooker Salsa Chicken and The Weekly Menu

This easy slow cooker recipe is great when feeding a crowd.  Only 3 ingredients and a few minutes of hands on time results in tender, flavorful chicken that can be served with tortillas and toppings, a side of rice or used in a casserole.

Salsa Chicken

I served it up at the Teen's birthday party as one of the entrees with warmed flour tortillas, cheese, sour cream and guacamole so people could roll their own burritos.  There were 2 other entrees as well which meant that after feeding nearly 30 people there was still enough left to create a casserole for another  dinner for 4.

A Relish Tray and a Review of The Night Watchman

Remember the Relish Trays that you used to find at every holiday gathering or summer potluck party?  I think it's time we revive the ritual and give those fond memories to our children and grandchildren.

Relish Tray

Rituals and Traditions are so very important.  This point was driven home to me as I listened to The Night Watchman during my morning walks.

Yellow Tail Wine is from NSW, who knew?? And the Weekly Menu #WorldWineTravel

I thought I was going to have to sit out of this month's World Wine Travel event.  The theme, hosted by Cam of Culinary Adventures with Camilla was Reds from New South Wales.

When this theme was announced I wasn't concerned about being able to source wines because I was a proud member of and could pretty much get any wine I needed.  Then tragedy struck and is no longer able to ship to Michigan.  I checked with Total Wines and found that they do carry wines from NSW but not here in Michigan.  I checked with my friend Dave who works for a wine wholesaler, he was unable to help me.

Yellow Tail Wine

So I announced to the group that I was unable to participate and Robin of Crushed Grape Chronicles advised that Yellow Tail wines were from Riverina in NSW.  Who knew?  Yellow Tail wine is available everywhere!!!
