Sprouted Wheat Waffles #BreadBakers

Add extra nutrition, fiber and flavor to your breakfast with these waffles made from 100% sprouted wheat.

It is time for Bread Bakers........
This month Sue of Palatable Pastime invited us to make a bread containing sprouted wheat flours.  Per the rules of our Bread Bakers group, Pancakes and Waffles, are considered in the bread family.

Both the flour and the recipe come from King Arthur Flour.  This is not a sponsored post but I do love King Arthur Flours and always look to them first when searching out different types of flour.  They have an amazing selection and my grocer carries most of them.

Instead of going out for breakfast after Mass on Sunday we came home and I made up a batch of waffles using the sprouted wheat flour.  We had just gotten home from vacation and I was done with restaurant food for a while.

These waffles are nuttier tasting than those made with all purpose flour.  I thought it added much more flavor and was very pleased to give my family extra protein and fiber without their knowledge.

This was my first foray into the world of sprouted flour other than store bought goods that I used when following the FMD eating plan.  This flour can be used 1:1 ratio with all purpose flour for any baked goods.  I am anxious to experiment some more.  Thanks Sue, for making me step outside my box.

Before I share the recipe, let's see what the others made to share today......

  4. I went from shop to shop here in the fourth largest city in the United States looking for sprouted flour of ANY KIND with no luck, until I finally found a 5 lb back of sprouted spelt at Sprouts supermarket. Who knew it would be so hard to find? Certainly not me or I'd have ordered online. Your waffles look wonderful, Wendy! I have plenty of flour left to try them with the spelt!
