It's National BLT Month!

Foodie Extravaganza celebrates obscure food holidays by posting delicious recipes your family will love. Posting day is always the first Wednesday of each month. I love BLT's.  Especially during the summer when tomatoes are at their best.  It is then that I yearn to toast up some bread, slather it with Miracle Whip, pile on some crispy thick sliced bacon, add those juicy, sweet tomatoes and some lettuce.  You take a bite and the tomato juice might run down your chin.....pure heaven.

Sometimes I add ingredients to my BLT's.  I love this Grilled Cheese BLT that includes Avocado.

I serve up the flavors of BLT's in other ways as well.  Like in this Pasta Salad or in these cute little BLT appetizers.  A green salad with BLT flavors is delicious as well.  Or a hot pasta BLT is always a hit too.

But today we are talking Pizza.  I knew that combining my love of BLT's with my love of pizza was a great idea but I had no idea just how amazing it would be!!  I used Ranch Dressing for the sauce as I thought this would add a little more depth than just mayonnaise.

Then I generously sprinkled on some thick cut bacon that I had cooked up to a crispy goodness.

The bacon was followed up by a generous sprinkling of Cheddar cheese.

Place it in a hot oven and bake until the crust is perfect and the cheese is browned and bubbly.

Pull it out from the oven.  Sprinkle with chopped lettuce and tomatoes.  Drizzle with additional Ranch dressing and enjoy!!

Are you a BLT fan?  Are you a purist or do you like to experiment with other ways to enjoy the flavors you love?

  1. This sounds wonderful, and with that lettuce, it's practically a salad, right?

  2. Delicious! I've made this kind of thing on flatbread before and it was amazing! Now I want to try it with pizza dough. :)
