Multicooker Monday

Recipes for Small Appliances

    Blade Roast

This recipe starts with any cut of beef that does well in a slow braise.  I used a blade roast, trimmed and cut into chunks.

    Beef Barbacoa in Slow Cooker

Place into a slow cooker with onion and oranges and pour a mixture of Chili Sauce, Vinegar and Seasonings over the top.  Turn it to low and walk away to enjoy your day.

The beef is now very tender and can be shredded by simply crushing and stirring with a wooden spoon.

  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 navel orange, peeled and sliced
  • 1 (2-3 lb) Beef Blade Roast, trimmed and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 c. chili sauce

  1. Place the onion, beef chunks and orange into the crock of a slow cooker that has been treated with cooking spray.  Whisk together the chili sauce, vinegar and seasoning packets.  Pour over the meat mixture.  Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hrs. until the beef is fork tender.
  2. Crush and stir with a wooden spoon to shred the meat.  Use tongs to transfer the meat mixture from the slow cooker onto warmed corn tortillas.  Serve with salsa and cheese, if desired.
