Filet Mignon on a Stick #FantasticalFoodFight

Tender, juicy beef tenderloin skewered with parboiled potatoes, onions and mushrooms makes for a complete meal on a stick.

Welcome to Fantastical Food Fight...…

This fun group gets together each month under the direction of Sarah of Fantastical Sharing of Recipes.  You can learn more about our group and how to join in the fun over at this site.

Each month, Sarah, provides a food or a theme and we all compete to see who has the most popular recipe.  This month the theme is Kebabs.

Here is what everyone is sharing today.

I love kebabs and we make them quite often in the summertime.  I have shared recipes for kebabs containing  Pork and Nectarines, Asian Flavored Pork, Ground Lamb, Tropical Pork, Sirloin Steak, Beef, Citrusy Beef, Seafood,  and Shrimp.    I can't believe I have never shared a recipe for Chicken Kebabs.  Huh.....I'll have to rectify them soon.

Whether you call them kebabs, kabobs or skewers, I (like Alton Brown) call them good eats.  Not only are they delicious, they are easy to prepare and make a wonderful presentation.

For today's version, I pulled out some filet mignons that were in the freezer.  I seasoned them with Montreal Steak Seasoning and cut them into chunks.

I parboiled some baby redskin potatoes and then I alternated the filet with the potatoes, mushrooms (both white and Morels) and onion.  I needed to parboil the potatoes first because these kebabs do not take very long since I like my filet medium rare.

Throw them on the grill while you enjoy a cocktail or a first course.  They will be done cooking before you are done drinking or eating but you can let them rest while you finish up.

Bonus is that you just fed 6 people with 4 filet mignons.  Great recipe to keep in mind when your dinner party unexpectedly grows larger.

Filet Mignon on a Stick

Tender, juicy beef tenderloin skewered with parboiled potatoes, onions and mushrooms makes for a complete meal on a stick.
prep time: 15 minscook time:8-10 total time: 15 mins

ingredients

4 (8 oz) Filet Mignon, cut into 18 chunks, roughly the same size
12 baby redskin potatoes, parboiled to fork tender
1 lg. onion, cut into large chunks
12 lg. white mushrooms
12 Morel mushrooms
Montreal seasoning or your favorite steak seasoning , to taste
Olive oil seasoned to taste with salt and pepper

instructions

Divide the ingredients up into 6 equal portions.  Thread onto the skewers alternating between ingredients, using 3 chunks of filet mignon, 2 potatoes, and 2 of each kind of mushrooms.  I like to embrace the steak with the onion pieces as I like the flavor it imparts.

Brush each skewer with the seasoned olive oil and place on a hot grill for about 3-4 minutes per side, until meat is cooked to desired temperature.

NOTES:

The prep time does not include parboiling the potatoes

    1. It was fun but mostly it was a way to make my meat stretch when I ended up with 2 additional guests LOL.

  2. This sounds delicious. Genius way to make the potatoes come out perfectly cooked without over cooking the filet mignon! So luxurious!
