Celebrating Women in Wine with Delta Airlines #WinePW

We were traveling to Maui from LA last month.  Our flight was very early and we had been up for a few hours when the food and beverage service began.  I asked for an orange juice and a sparkling wine so I could enjoy a Mimosa with my Biscoff Cookies.

Une Femme Wine

I was tickled when I was served this can of Une Femme sparkling wine from Sonoma, California.  Une Femme is the brainchild of  Jen Pelka, founder of The Riddler, all-woman-funded Champagne bars located in San Francisco and New York.

Proceeds from every sale are donated to charitable organizations that work towards improving the lives of women.   Une Femme only makes sparkling wines and they are widely available throughout the USA.

Scoring this contract with Delta had to have been a great feeling for the women who own and run this winery.  When I was served this can, I took a photo because I was impressed that a woman-owned company was being featured.

When Camilla of Culinary Cam, the host of this month's Wine Pairing Weekend Event, chose Women Winemakers as her topic, I remembered this wine and wanted to share it with you.

Wine Pairing Weekend, as the name suggests, requires a food pairing with the wine we share.  Since I was on a Delta flight, I was given Biscoff Cookies with my oj and sparkling wine, and that was my pairing.

I love those Biscoff Cookies.  I have used them to frost this Gingerbread Cake, as the crust for this No Bake Pumpkin Cheesecake, and in these delicious Cookies with Craisins.  This sparkling wine, sans orange juice, would be a lovely pairing with any of these desserts.

Please stop by and see what other women owned wineries are being featured by our Wine Pairing Weekend group this month.  Here are the links and the topics........

  1. Une Femme sounds like a very cool company. Will definitely keep my eye out for its wine the next time I'm in the US.
