Razzles for Breakfast #MoviesandMunchies

This month's pick for our Movies and Munchies group was 13 Going On 30, chosen by Camilla of Culinary Cam.

13 Going On 30

This Romantic Comedy came out in 2004 and stars Christa Allen/Jennifer Garner as Jenna Rink with Christa playing the 13-year-old vs. Jennifer playing the 30-year-old.

Young Jenna wants nothing more than to be included and liked by the mean girls in her school.  On her 13th birthday she invites them to her home, along with the popular boys, for a party bribing them by doing their homework assignment.

Young Jenna's best friend and neighbor, Matt, cannot understand why Jenna cannot see how much better she is than the group she admires.  The party turns south, the mean girls plan a nasty trick and sneak out once they get their hands on the paper that Jenna wrote.  Matt is left trying to pick up the pieces of Jenna's broken heart as Jenna cries herself to sleep and wakes up as a successful woman of 30.

Adult Jenna, freaking out, contacts her best friend, Matt, only to learn that she became one of the mean girls and kicked him to the curb.  Adult Jenna is appalled at the person she grew into and is determined to turn her life around.

There are a lot of parties in this movie, thus a lot of party food, starting with the snacks you would see at a teenage birthday party and finishing with the hors d'oeuvres you would see at a high-end cocktail party.

Razzle Smoothie

But the most prominent food was Razzles....that iconic candy/gum from the 1970's.  I don't know how to make Razzles, nor could I think of a way to use Razzles in a recipe, but I did find a Razzle Smoothie that I enjoyed for breakfast one day.  I hope you enjoy it too.

I really enjoyed this movie.  It is a typical romcom and perfect for Valentine's Day viewing.

  1. Thanks for joining me! I'm glad you enjoyed it and I still haven't tracked down any Razzles. This might have to do.

    1. I found Razzles on Amazon but you had to buy them in bulk and I had no idea what I would do with them LOL.
