I was inspired to make this bagel breakfast sandwich after reading Table for Six by Rosemary Willhide. The Bagel was delicious and the best thing that came from my reading this novel.
I chose this novel for our Lit Happens group this month. I had seen a review by another blogger and thought it sounded like a good option to start off the year. We will see if I thought correctly when the others weigh in on the Q&A discussion on our Facebook Page. This is not a foodie group but a book lover's group. Some of us, like I, are foodies and do share recipes inspired by the novels. This is not a requirement. If you would like to join our groups and discussions please leave a comment below and I will invite you to our page.
There is a lot of anger, name calling, back-stabbing, husband and boyfriend stealing, tragedy and death in this novel. I did not particularly like any of the characters except for one ex-husband and the rescue dog. I did not hate any of the characters except for maybe one or two that I cannot share with you without giving spoilers.
One of the husbands in this novel calls his wife and the other authors "smut" writers. I think that might be a good, descriptive word for this book. I didn't hate it, I didn't like it. I am kind of ambivilent about it but anxious to see what the others think as they read it.
There were a lot of restaurant/cafe/kitchen scenes in this novel but not a ton of food mentioned. I did catch references to breakfast, toast, and bagels so I decided to make myself a Bagel Sandwich and share that with you along with this review today.
Tonight we are going to a Your Generation Concert featuring Music from the 60's through the 90's. It should be fun. We are going out for dinner before the concert. On Monday evening I am taking a painting class held at a local winery. It includes a wine flight and all the supplies to make a cute Valentine themed painting. I will share photos if it turns out LOL.
On Wednesday, Frank and I are going to see the Musical Footloose. We will be going out for dinner before the show. The rest of the week will be spent preparing for our CA/HI trip. We will be gone from the 19th until the 30th.
