Happy Day before All Hallows' Eve!!! I am excited to be having our neighbors over for our annual Halloween dinner.
We live in a rural area and don't have any beggars coming to our doors, so each year we invite our neighbors over to celebrate our friend Michelle's birthday, which falls on Halloween. It is our first dinner party of the season.
My Marina and her family are staying with us for a while before they leave to move to Mauritius. This has been weighing heavily on my heart for months, and I am still not ready to talk about it. Each time I start writing about it, and how much I'm going to miss My Little Miss and Mr M, I start to weep. So, again, I'm wiping my tears and moving on to a different subject.
My weekly menu will reflect that they will be sharing dinner with us. Devin is Hindu and does not eat beef or pork. My "Ghoul"ash tomorrow will be made with venison.
I just finished listening to Between Friends by Debbie Macomber. This novel spans 50 years of friendship between Jillian and Lindsey, shared solely through written correspondence and journal entries. It is a touching, lovely story that made me smile and made me cry.
It spans my lifetime, covering historical events like the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights Movement, the Equal Rights Amendment, the Iran-Contra Scandal, Watergate, 9-11 Terrorist Attacks, and every other major event of the past 50 years.
When I read The Women by Kristin Hannah, it felt strange to be living in what is now considered Historical Fiction. Between Friends was even more unsettling for me.....I don't feel quite that old yet LOL.
Because this novel consisted only of letters, emails, journal entries, postcards, news articles, court documents, etc., it didn't mention much food, so I have no recipe to share today.
You'll just have to settle for my Weekly Menu......
