This fresh-picked Strawberry platter featuring a chocolate dip that starts with Greek yogurt is a perfect summertime snack, appetizer, or dessert.
I was inspired to make this dip after watching Wonka, our Movies and Munchies film this month.
This musical was chosen by Amy of Amy's Cooking Adventures. It is the story of Willie Wonka's childhood and how he started his Chocolate Factory.
I didn't know anything about this film that came out last year. I have watched and enjoyed Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory starring Gene Wilder in 1971 and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory starring Johnny Depp in 2005.
I was surprised and delighted when I ordered this film and saw it was a musical. I love musicals and this was a fun film that made me laugh and cry.
There wasn't much food, other than chocolate. However, Wonka and his friends were given gruel while being held as indebted prisoners, and there were several scenes with a fruit stand. It was this fruit stand that inspired the platter I served up on Father's Day with the Chocolate Dip in honor of Wonka.
I was originally going to make a mixed fruit platter but it is Strawberry Season in Michigan and 3 of our daughters, the Angel Face and I met up at a U Pick Farm, Blakes, and picked a couple of trays full. I used some to make Frank a Strawberry Almond Torte for Father's Day and served the remainder with this easy dip.
You will feel like you used Wonka magic to make the dip that takes only 3 ingredients and less than a minute of your time.
You still have time to join us for Movies and Munchies. Just watch Wonka before the end of the month. Create a recipe inspired by it and, if you are a food blogger, post the recipe If you are not a blogger you can just post a photo on Instagram, tagging #moviesandmunchies. Be sure to advise Amy on our Facebook Page so she can add you to the Round-up at the end of the month.
