Exploring Garda Bianco from Poggio delle Grazie as we enter 2026

This white wine blend from the Lake Garda region of Italy is smooth, full-bodied, and delicious.  I was sent this bottle from Susannah at Vigneto Communications and Avvinare, who was hosting a webinar featuring wines from this region.

White Wine

I was unable to attend the webinar, as I had a doctor appointment schedule during that time, but Susannah was kind enough to send me this bottle, a tech sheet, and a recording of the webinar featuring the wines of the Lake Garda region.  Thank you so much Susannah and Vigneto Communications.

When Lynn of Savor the Harvest, invited the members of our Combined Wine Groups to Explore Wine Regions, Wineries, and Varietals that were new to us to kick off the New Year, I knew that I wanted to share this wonderful Garda Bianco from Poggio Delle Grazie.

Wine

I decided to pair this wine from Poggio delle Grazie, whose home page reads "surrounded by nature, in proximity to Lake Garda", with a dish from the region.

I belong to another blogging group called Eat the World, which I am hosting this month.  I decided to ask the others to explore Northern Italy with me and set off to find a recipe that I thought would pair nicely with this wine.

Dinner with Wine

I decided to make Risotto al Pesce Persico (Risotto with Lake Perch) upon learning that Perch is commonly caught in Lake Garda.  Perch is also commonly caught in Lake St. Clair, a large freshwater lake that connects the Great Lakes in our state, and I have friends who are very generous with their bounty when they go fishing.

As is our custom, Frank opened the wine and poured each of us a glass as I started cooking.  He brought me my glass and the bottle so I could pour a glug into the Risotto, saying, "This is a very nice wine".  I took a sip and agreed with him.

The wine is a blend of Friulano and Trebbiano grapes.  It is bright and crisp.  I was unable to find anywhere in Michigan that sold this wine, nor do I know the MSRP.  This is disappointing as it is a very nice wine that I would like to enjoy again.

I will be sharing the recipe for this dish tomorrow, which paired extremely well with this wine, so please stop by tomorrow for Eat the World.

I am off now to see what Explorations the others have done for the first post of 2026.  You can join me using the links below, which will be updated as each post goes live.
