These delicious rolls were created when I had unexpected guests show up on a weekend morning.  I, fortunately, had this Tater Tot Breakfast Casserole, in the oven but I didn't have enough bread to make toast for everyone.

I did, however, have a can of crescent rolls in the refrigerator and some candied orange peel that I had left from this Scottish Fruitcake I had made.  They say that necessity is the mother of invention, I find that to be true with cooking all the time.

This is my last contribution to Christmas Sweets Week this year but the others are posting tomorrow so you are going to want to check out their final recipes of the week.

These easy to make sticky rolls start of with a can of refrigerated crescent rolls and are scrumpdillyicious. Perfect for Christmas morning or as part of a Holiday Breakfast Buffet.

ingredients:

  • 1 tube refrigerated crescent rolls.
  • 1 T. butter
  • 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 T. diced candied orange peel
  • 1 T. orange juice

instructions:

How to cook Easy Candied Orange Sticky Rolls

  1. Unwrap the crescent dough but do not unroll the dough.  Cut the roll into 8 equal portions.  Place into a round baking pan that has been treated with baking spray.
  2. In a small skillet melt the butter with the brown sugar and orange juice over medium heat.  Stir in the candied orange peel and cook, stirring until bubbly.
  3. Spoon the brown sugar mixture onto the rolls and place them in a preheated 375* oven for 12-15 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.  Remove from pan to a plate lined with parchment paper immediately.
