Cranberetto Sour #CranberryWeek

Today is the last day of Cranberry Week.......


I have enjoyed this week of Cranberry sharing and am very grateful to Caroline of Caroline's Cooking for hosting this annual event.  I thought it was appropriate to finish up with a cocktail to kick off the weekend.

If you are a fan of Whiskey Sours you are going to love this seasonal cocktail made with cranberry simple syrup and mixed with Amaretto. Cheers.

ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 c. fresh cranberries
  • 1  c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 2 c. amaretto liqueur
  • 1/2 c. lemon juice

instructions:

How to cook Cranberetto Sour

  1. Place the cranberries, sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat.  Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer and cook until the berries burst.
  2. Remove from heat and crush the berries with a potato masher.  Let rest for 15 minutes then strain through a fine mesh sieve, extracting as much liquid as possible.  Cover and chill.
  3. Place the liqueur, lemon juice and 5 Tablespoons of the cranberry mixture into a pitcher filled with ice.  Stir until well chilled.  Strain into glasses filled with ice.  Garnish with lemon slices and/or cranberries as desired.
