Evidently, what we call a Sheet Pan Dinner, here in the States, is called a Traybake in England. A popular traybake in England includes sausage and plums. I have no idea if this dinner resembles what you would get if you were visiting the UK, but it was well enjoyed here.
"the tray of charcoal sausages, plums, and red onions shoved to one side"
I had never thought to add plums to a sausage sheet pan dinner. I decided to give it a go. I had Alexa set a 30-minute timer so my dinner wouldn't have the same fate as Piglet's.

Sausage and Plum Traybake
Smoked Sausage, Black Plums, Red Onion, and New Potatoes baked up together on a tray. A quick and easy dinner ready in less than an hour's time.
Ingredients
- 1 pkg. (12 oz) smoked sausage of choice
- 2-3 black plums, pitted and quartered
- 12 new potatoes, halved or quartered
- 1 red onion, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1 T. olive oil
- salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Place the prepared vegetables and plums into a large bowl. Add the olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat, and then spread onto a baking sheet, lined with parchment, foil, or a silicone mat.
- Cut the sausage into chunks and add to the tray. Place the tray into a preheated 400* oven and bake for 30 minutes until the sausage and potatoes are browned and the vegetables are tender and easily pierced with a fork.

Sorry but no this doesn’t bear any resemblance to an English traybake. It needs a nice gooey sauce to keep the sausages juicy and succulent, and to mop up with a hunk of bread at the end!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information. As I said in my opening, I had no idea if this would be anything close to what you would find in the UK. We did, however, enjoy this meal and I wanted to share it.
