Chili Frito Pie

I have been making this recipe for the past 50 years.  I started out making it because I was a young wife and mother trying to feed my family on a budget.  I continued making it because it is so darn delicious and the family loved it.  Using leftover chili makes this meal extremely economical.

Prep time: 10 MinCook time: 30 MinTotal time: 40 Min

Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 2 c. leftover chili (my recipe)
  • 1 c. shredded cheese
  • 1 c. corn chips
  • 1 c. sour cream

Instructions

  1. Place the crescent rolls into a pie plate with the narrow side facing in and the wide edge covering the sides of the pan. Press the seams together to form a crust.
  2. Crumble half of the corn chips and sprinkle on the bottom of the crust.
  3. Spread the chili over the crust and corn chips, followed by the sour cream and shredded cheese.
  4. Top with the remaining corn chips and bake in a preheated 400* oven for 25-30 minutes, until cheese is melted, crust is browned and it is hot and bubbly.

  1. I might have heard of a Frito pie before today. But I have never had it nor even known what went into one. I feel as if I am definitely missing out. LOL.
