Slow Cooker Butterscotch Pears #SpringSweetsWeek

These pears, made in a slow cooker, make your house smell delicious and free you up for prepping and serving dinner without having to worry about dessert.  When ready to serve place in a bowl and add a scoop of ice cream.  Life doesn't get much easier or more delicious than that.

Pears and Cinnamon

For this recipe I used Butterscotch Pears provided by Melissa's Produce and Cinnamon provided by Selefina Spices.  I thought it was fun to use Butterscotch Pears to make Butterscotch Pears LOL.

I love Butterscotch Pears and was happy to find them in this shipment from Melissas because they are wonderful.  I have never been able to find them at my grocers however so if you can't find Butterscotch Pears, any firm large pears will work.

Slow Cooker Butterscotch Pears

Slow Cooker Butterscotch Pears

These pears, made in a slow cooker, make your house smell delicious and free you up for prepping and serving dinner without having to worry about dessert. When ready to serve place in a bowl and add a scoop of ice cream. Life doesn't get much easier or more delicious than that.
Prep time: 10 MinCook time: 4 HourTotal time: 4 H & 10 M

Ingredients

  • 3 large, firm pears (I used Butterscotch Pears)
  • juice of 1/2 a lemon
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter, room temperature
  • 2 T. flour
  • 1/2 t. cinnamon (I used Selefina)
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans
  • 1/2 c. pear or apple juice
  • 2 T. honey
  • Vanilla ice cream, if desired

Instructions

  1. Cut pears in half, lengthwise, and remove any core and seeds.
  2. Brush the pears with the lemon juice and place them in the bottom of a slow cooker.
  3. Combine the brown sugar, butter, flour, cinnamon, salt and nuts. Spoon into and onto the pears.
  4. Add the juice to the slow cooker and drizzle the pears with the honey.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours.
  6. When ready to serve, carefully remove the pears and filling with tongs and place into a bowl with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.
