Tequila Sunrise for #BrunchWeek 2015

BrunchWeek 2015 LogoWelcome to the third annual #BrunchWeek hosted by Terri from Love and Confections and Shaina from Take A Bite Out Of Boca. We are so excited to have you join us this year! Celebrate Brunch with us this week as we prepare for Mother's Day. 30 Bloggers from around the country will showcase their best brunch dishes, from cocktails to casseroles, breakfast breads, sandwiches and salads - there is something for everyone!

It's humpday and the third day of our Brunch Week Celebration.  Today, we are enjoying a nice citrusy adult beverage.  Usually when you think of alcoholic drinks for brunch your mind goes to Bloody Marys and Mimosas but I thought I would shake things up a little with a drink that is not only delicious but a beautiful addition to your brunch table.

When Terri and Shaina first posted about gathering bloggers for Brunch Week 2015 I eagerly signed up.  Then I looked at the dates and thought....perfect....I will do a Mexican Fiesta Brunch in honor of Cinco de Mayo.  I then figured out my entire menu and the beverage I chose was a Tequila Sunrise. That was the only item on that menu that remained as the week got closer.  I started having other ideas and I worried about waiting until the last minute and then putting all my eggs in one basket.  (yes, that was a brunch pun LOL).

But I really wanted to serve an adult beverage at my brunch so the Tequila Sunrise stayed and I am so glad that it did.  It is gorgeous and refreshing...I am pleased to share it with you.

After you have the drink in the glass you pour a little grenadine over a spoon so that it slowly flows to the bottom of the drink.

And you end up with this lovely drink.
The grenadine slowly continues to rise into the orange creating the sunrise effect.

Tequila Sunrise
adapted from Mexican by Jane Milton

For 2 drinks:

2 shots Tequila Gold
Juice from 2 oranges
Juice from 1 large or 2 small limes
2 t. grenadine

Fill 2 cocktail glasses with ice and add a shot of Tequila Gold in each.  Combine the juices into on container and divide between both glasses.  Quickly add 1 t. of grenadine to each drink, pouring it down the back of a teaspoon so that it sinks to the bottom of the drink.  Print Recipe
