Summertime and the Livin' is Easy. Here on the Farm our days consist of lounging in the pool and grilling dinner for whoever happens to stop by. I always try to have a variety of wines available to please any palate, but for my palate, I prefer this hearty red blend from Decoy, especially when it is burgers on the grill.
We are pairing wines with Summer Fare this month......
I hope you are enjoying the summer thus far....It has been HOT in Michigan. We have been spending most of our time in the pool and eating on the deck. I pour a lot of chilled Rosé and Whites while floating in the pool. I invited the others to share what they are drinking and eating this summer season, and then went completely opposite and poured a Red Blend to sip with my Burgers and Beans.
Let's see what the others are serving and sipping.......
- Gwendolyn of Wine Predator is opening "Arizona Wines for Summer Time: Page Springs Cellars Rose and Caduceus Anubis Red Blend with Fresh Apricot Salad and Burgers"
- Jeff of Food Wine Click! is sharing "A Summer Salad with Muscadet"
- David of Cooking Chat has "A Chillable Red for a Summer Spread"
- Camilla of Culinary Cam cooked up "Albacore Tuna Burgers + Midpoint's 2024 February's Bouquet Rosé"
- Jennifer of Vino Travels has "Bubbles and Bites: Prosecco and Frittata to Please your Palate"
- Linda of My Full Wine glass was "Inspired by Lillian: Rice Noodle Salad and Sicilian Grillo"
- Wendy of A Day in the Life on the Farm writes about "The Wine I Paired with Classic Summer Fare"
It was a lazy summer day. We were lounging in the pool, and our energy was sapped from the heat. We started to get hungry and were trying to decide what to do about dinner. We thought about going out or ordering in but that would require getting out of the pool and getting dressed.
I suggested a salad, but Frank was hungry for something a little more substantial. Luckily, we are in the habit of having pre-formed hamburger patties in the freezer that can be put on the grill frozen, and are cooked perfectly after 5 minutes per side.
While Frank cooked the burgers, I heated up some canned beans and tossed some fresh veggies in Ranch dressing. Frank checked the wine fridge and pulled out a bottle of Decoy Red Blend. We are big fans of the Duckhorn family wines and usually have at least one bottle on hand.
This 2021 vintage is a wonderful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with guest visits from Petite Syrah, Malbec, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Tannat, and Zinfandel. These varietals are blended into a complex, smooth, and balanced bottle that is just as comfortable with burgers as it is with steaks.
What are you cooking up to pair with your favorite wines this summer?
Sounds like a good summer pairing! Nice simpel meal solution. Thanks for hosting this event.
