Roast Beef and Stilton Melt inspired by A Fatal Grace

Thinly sliced roast beef, horseradish and stilton blue cheese spread, and peppery arugula snuggled between slices of buttered French bread and grilled to perfection.

Roast Beef and Stilton Melt

I was inspired to make this sandwich while reading A Fatal Grace the second book in the Inspector Gamache novels by Louise Penny.

A Fatal Grace

I am enjoying these cozy mysteries set in the small, fictional town of Three Pines in Quebec.  This town is filled with people you would love to meet in real life and join in the cafe for a bite to eat or a glass of wine, or in the used book store that neighbors it.

So, there has been two murders in as many years.....no town is perfect LOL....

In this novel, a newcomer to the town is electrocuted during a curling match that is an annual event in this little town.  All of the townsfolk are there as well as some visitors to the area, one of whom has been hired as a photographer by the woman who is killed.

Roast Beef and Stilton Melt

When this photographer, Saul, first arrives for his assignment in this quaint, little town he is enjoying a Roast Beef and Stilton Sandwich with Arugula in the cafe and daydreaming of how nice it would be to live in such a wonderful place.

Saul is a prime suspect in the murder investigation being led by Inspector Gamache and his team with some help from the townspeople with whom Gamache developed relationships when investigating the murder of a long-time resident in the first novel of the series, Still Life.

I understand there is a series based on these novels called Three Pines.  I am going to see if I can find it and check it out.  I will let you know, in the meantime I am looking forward to the next book of this series.

I am sharing this link over at Foodies Read.  Stop by and see what the other foodies are reading this month.
