Our favorite meatloaf is one I have been making since my kids were babies.  The eldest is now 46 so that has been quite a while.  It is a simple, homey, comforting meal that the kids often request during the winter when we have family gatherings.

They have never really requested it during the summer months.  Summer months in our house is for grilling outdoors.  It is rare for me to turn on the oven during the summer.  But sometimes, I get a hankering for the taste of this delicious meatloaf, so when Christie of  A Kitchen Hoor's Adventures announced the theme of Burgers for this month, I thought why not enjoy the flavors of this meatloaf, grilled on a bun?  Why not, indeed!

So we lit the grill to heat as I combined my meatloaf mixture, beef and pork combined with fresh bread crumbs, onions, egg and ketchup.  Seasoned with a heavy hand of pepper and a bit of salt.

I don't normally put cheese on my meatloaf but I do on my burgers so I chose to add a slice of American to each burger.

Piled high with lettuce, tomatoes and thousand island dressing with a side of cole slaw this was a complete, hearty and delicious dinner.  My hankering for meatloaf was satisfied and my house stayed cool.

I hope your Sunday includes some family time today.  We are taking our California family to the Tiger's game today.  RAAAAWR!!

  3. I love the idea of meatloaf burgers, because I hate heating the kitchen in summer. And a nice pork beef mix would be great for burgers as well as meatloaf.
