Navajo Green Chile Pork and a Book Review

Last month our Sunday Funday blogging group celebrated Navajo Code Talkers Day.  I shared a recipe for Marinated Venison Steaks and gave a little background about the Navajo Code Talkers. 

Our host for that event, Amy of Amy's Cooking Adventures, mentioned that she had read a Memoir written by one of the Code Talkers.  I immediately ordered it up at the library.

November is National American Indian Heritage Month.  I'm sure this month was chosen as it was when Europeans first emigrated to the New World and were met by friendly Indigenous Americans who celebrated their arrival with a feast.  We now acknowledge that arrival and feast each year in Thanksgiving.

Navajo Tacos and a Book Review

Indian Fry Bread topped with seasoned ground meat and beans, topped with cheese, shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes.

I was inspired to make this dish after reading Indian Killer by Sherman Alexie for our Lit Happens Book Club.
