Little Miss M turns 6 (and the Weekly Menu)

Our Little Miss M turned 6 years old yesterday.  She is the sweetest little girl, and we are excited to celebrate her today with a party.

Little Girl Birthday celebration

Actually, we have been celebrating all week.  We started on Monday with a trip to the Rainforest Cafe.  The original plan was to get Miia's ears pierced for her birthday, but when the time came, she changed her mind.  She is NEVER getting her ears pierced...they use a gun!!  So we just enjoyed our dinner, and Grammy had to put on her thinking cap to come up with a new gift idea.

Then, she had a party with her friends at Kid's Empire.  I understand that she had a blast.  Grammy and Grampy sat that one out.

gifts

She brought all of her gifts in and reopened them so we could see all the wonderful gifts that she got!!  I have no idea how she is going to pack all this stuff to take with her on the plane.

Little girl blowing out candle

Last night, on her actual birthday, we went again to get her ears pierced.  Again, she changed her mind LOL.  Then we went to a Mexican Restaurant for dinner, where she enjoyed another round of the Happy Birthday song, making a wish, and blowing out candles.

Guests are scheduled to arrive today around 3 PM, and we've been busy preparing for the big event.  Here is what we are serving up for our girl of the hour.

Birthday Menu

I ordered the Fried Chicken from a local store with the best fried chicken around.  I decided to make my own coleslaw and Caesar Salad.  I also made a pan of Pasta Marinara to go along with the Mac and Cheese.

Making pretzels

Little Miss M and I made the pretzels during the week. This is a joint birthday celebration and going-away party, as My Marina and her family are moving to Mauritius in a couple of days.  My heart is breaking, but we are putting on a good front for Little Miss M.  I'm sure she and Little Mr. M will thrive in Mauritius.  I am thankful for all the modern technology that will keep us in contact with them.  We are already planning our trip there to see them.

They are with us until Thursday.  So we'll spend as much time as we can with them.  Amy and Doug are joining us for dinner on Wednesday.  Here's what I'm serving up this week.

    1. I am so heartbroken and so angry that good people are no longer allowed to chase their dreams of becoming American. Who would have ever thought that someone wouldn't feel safe in this country to which they longed to belong......
