Greek Pork Chops

L is for Lemon........

My blogging friends and I get together every other Wednesday to share recipes that start or feature ingredients as we work our way through the alphabet. Let's take a look at the other L recipes being shared today........

Pork Chop pin

As this post goes live, my vacation in Mykonos, Greece, that inspired this recipe, is coming to an end. It has been amazing!   Friday, we start the long trek home.

Last year, for the Letter L, I shared Preserved Lemons, and in 2024, I shared Homemade Lemonade.

Grilled Greek Pork Chops

Marinating these pork chops in lemon, olive oil, and Mediterranean seasoning before grilling guarantees moist, tasty results.

Prep time: 5 MinCook time: 15 MinInactive time: 8 HourTotal time: 8 H & 20 M

Ingredients

  • 6 Boneless, thick-cut, Pork Loin chops
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 3/4 c. olive oil
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 T. dried oregano
  • 1 t. ground cumin

Instructions

  1. Place the lemon juice, olive oil, oregano, salt, pepper, and cumin into a gallon-size resealable bag. Shake to combine.
  2. Add the pork chops to the bag, release the air, seal the bag, then massage the marinade onto the chops until they are completely covered. Place in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours, or overnight.
  3. Heat a grill to medium-high. Remove the pork chops from the marinade and place them onto the grill, discarding any remaining marinade. Grill until the pork chops are nicely marked and have reached an internal temperature of 145 °, about 6-7 minutes per side. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.

  2. Adding lemon really ups the Greek flavor in these pork chops. I haven’t made pork chops in eons! I need to fire up the grill!

  3. Great timing, I've got a freezer full of chops and the guys are bored with every way I make them!

  4. Those are beautiful chops! I like the grill option, I've only ever cooked them in a skillet. Learned to be careful with thinner ones not to overcook, I figured out that they need a lower heat than chicken breasts but we quite enjoy them. My mom never liked pork aside from bacon, but she grew up in the cook it to sawdust era. She has liked the few times she has had good, tender pork at our or my brother's house.

  5. What lovely thick chops! Marinating is key for keeping them juicy, especially with the added lemon juice! I'm so glad you are having a great holiday with family.
