Paloma for National Grapefruit Month #FoodieExtravaganza

I'd like to introduce to you Paloma, cousin of Margarita.  Made with Tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, simple syrup and club soda, served on the rocks in a salted rim glass.  I think I may prefer this over the popular Margarita.....I've always been a sucker for underdogs.  Cheers!!!

The Foodie Extravaganza Gang are celebrating National Grapefruit Month.......
Cam of Culinary Cam is hosting this fun group that celebrates National Food Holidays on the first Wednesday of each month.  Cam advised that February is National Grapefruit Month and invited us to share our best Grapefruit recipes.

Let's take a look at what everyone made........
Full Disclosure, I had originally made a Sea Breeze for today's event but, while writing the post, discovered that I had shared that recipe with you back in 2017.  So you know what that meant with the post going live first thing tomorrow morning?  Yep.....Day Drinking.

Luckily, my brother stopped by to visit so I popped him open a PBR and made Palomas for me and Frank.  Frank had a second one, however, I still had to make dinner tonight so I stopped at one.  It was delicious.

Paloma

I'd like to introduce to you Paloma, cousin of Margarita. Made with Tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, simple syrup and club soda, served on the rocks in a salted rim glass.
Prep time: 5 MinTotal time: 5 Min

Ingredients

  • 1 pink grapefruit
  • 1 lime
  • Kosher Salt
  • Tequila of choice (I used Cuervo Gold)
  • simple syrup (combine equal parts sugar and boiling water until sugar dissolves)
  • Club Soda

Instructions

  1. Combine the juice from the grapefruit and lime. Set aside.
  2. Rub a grapefruit slice on the rim of a glass and coat with coarse salt.
  3. Add a shot of Tequila, a shot of the combined juices, and a half shot of simple syrup to the glass.
  4. Stir and fill the glass with ice.
  5. Top with club soda, garnish with the grapefruit or lime slice and serve.

Notes

You will have more juice and simple syrup than needed. Refrigerate leftovers for use in future cocktails.

  1. Tequila and I aren't great friends. But I would make an exception to try this cocktail. Thanks for joining us. "Day drinking"...love it!

    1. Absolutely Karen. This was the first that I had but I don't think it will be the last.
