Last year I shared a recipe for a Mushroom Swiss Burger. Prior to that I shared a Mexican Burger, Grilled Burgers with Radish Cream, and a Philly Cheesesteak Burger.
Greek Burgers
Ingredients
- 1 c. plain Greek yogurt
- 1/4 c. crumbled Feta cheese
- 3 T. fresh oregano, chopped
- zest and juice of 1/4 lemon
- pinch of salt
- 1/2 red onion
- 1 lb ground lamb (or beef)
- salt and pepper to taste
- 4 pita breads
- 1/2 English cucumber, sliced
- 12 grape tomatoes, halved
Instructions
- Whisk together the yogurt, feta, oregano, lemon zest, lemon juice and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
- Cut 1/4 of the red onion into slices, separate and set aside. Finely chop the remaining 1/4 onion and mix with the meat in a large bowl with the oregano, salt and pepper. Form into 4 oval patties.
- Grill the burgers over high heat , 4-6 minutes per side, until an internal temperature of 160* is reached.
- Slather 1/4 of the sauce onto each of the pitas, top with the burger. Garnish with red onion slices, tomatoes and cucumbers and serve.
