My husband is a Mango nut so I can't wait to serve up some of these recipes to him.
Last month I was sent the memoir, Sobramesa, and a couple of bottles of wine for a special event that was hosted by Cam of Culinary Adventures with Camilla. You can read my review of the book and a Noqui recipe that I made in this post.
I paired the white wine with the Noqui and saved the red wine. I knew I wanted to serve the red with steaks and since this wine was from Argentina I wanted to serve a chimichurri with the steak. When I found a recipe on Mango.org for Mango Chimichurri Steak I knew that I had not only found the pairing for that second bottle of wine but also the recipe to share for this event.
I kept the Mango Chimichurri pretty much as written, reducing the amounts as I was only feeding the two of us. I adapted the marinade for the steak and the type of steak used to match our tastes and ingredients that I had on hand. This was an amazingly delicious dish. Perfect summertime fare and the wine pairing was very nice as well.
This wine is a blend of grapes that normally go into a Bordeaux wine. It had all the flavor and intensity of a Bordeaux without the price tag. It loved the grilled steak, the grilled steak loved the mango chimichurri and I loved the whole dinner.
