Fasolia Pouree inspired by Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery #MoviesandMunchies

This delicious Greek White Bean Dip comes together quickly using just staple ingredients that you are likely to have on hand.  It is wonderful as a spread on sandwiches or as a dip for pita, crackers or vegetables.

Fasolia Pouree

I was inspired to make this dip after watching Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery for our Movies & Munchies group.

Camilla of Culinary Cam is hosting this month and asked us all to watch or rewatch, as the case might be, the film Knives Out and or it's sequel on Netflix, Glass Onion.

Glass Onion

I had previously watched both of these films.  In fact, I hosted our Food n Flix club (now defunct) in November of 2020 and chose Knves Out  as our movie.  You can find my recipe for Instant Pot Butter Beans and Sausage that was inspired by Knives Out as well as the Round Up of the recipes the others were inspired to make in my past posts.

So for this challenge I decided to rewatch Glass Onion.  This time with my foodie glasses on.  The only problem being, like the first film, there is not a whole lot of food.  There is plenty of talk of food.  The participants of this game, hosted by Miles Braun (Edward Norton), a tech billionaire are asked about any food allergies before dinner is prepared.

They also are told to make sure they are all present for brunch in the morning.  There are some shots of fruit in the kitchen and there is a LOT of cocktails of many different kinds.  It is just coincidence that I chose to use a recipe with beans for both of these films.

I was inspired to open up my well worn copy of It's All Greek To Me by Debbie Matenopoulos based on the film being set on a Greek Island.  I decided to adapt this recipe for Fasolia Pouree and served it along with some veggies that were in the crisper drawer of my refrigerator.  It would have been a perfect dish to be served during one of the many cocktail hours held during this Murder Mystery weekend.

If you haven't watched the films yet and enjoy dark comedies, I think you will enjoy them both.  The only tie between the two films is Private Investigator Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig ) who investigates the murders in both films.

  1. Judee from Gluten Free A-Z Blog: The recipe looks similar to my recipe for hummus made with chickpeas instead of white beans. I will have to give this healthy recipe a try.
