Date Glazed Beef Kebabs #EattheWorld

These amazing Kebabs are loaded with Middle Eastern flavors of dates, pomegranate and pine nuts.  They are quick to make and cook up in just a few minutes on the grill.

We are visiting Israel this month as we Eat the World.......

Evelyne of CultureEatz invited us to share Israeli recipes this month as we virtually travel our way through the World and learn other cultures through the foods they eat.

Let's see what the others are sharing today.......

I found a website called Harretz-Israel News.  This website not only shares local current news for Israel but also provided 3 recipes perfect for grilling up an Israeli style BBQ.   I made all 3 recipes and they were all amazingly delicious.

I will be sharing the other 2, Sticky Wings and Vegetable Skewers, in the future on this blog.  But for today I want to talk about these incredible Beef Kebabs that were the star of the meal.

We made this meal up for Frank's sister and her husband when they came over for dinner one evening.  They were a huge hit and I loved that they could be made ahead of time and refrigerated until time to grill.

You could put these little patties onto a stick if you feel that kebabs aren't kebabs unless skewered but the recipe didn't call for that and they cooked up perfectly with just turning them with tongs.

The glaze for these kebabs is truly amazing.  So much flavor in these little loaves of meat.  This recipe is sure to become a regular on my Summer Grilling Menus.

These amazing Kebabs are loaded with Middle Eastern flavors of dates, pomegranate and pine nuts. They are quick to make and cook up in just a few minutes on the grill.

ingredients:

Kebab
  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 1/4 c. pine nuts, finely ground in food processor
  • 3 T. Date Molasses
  • 1 T. Pomegranate Molasses
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • pinch of freshly ground nutmeg
  • pinch of cumin

Glaze
  • 1/2 c. date molasses
  • 1/2 c. olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • pinch of kosher salt

instructions:

How to cook Date Glazed Beef Kebabs

Kebabs
  1. Place the ground beef, ground pine nuts, date molasses, pomegranate molasses, garlic, salt, cumin and nutmeg in a large bowl.
  2. Using clean hands mix all the ingredients until well combined.  Form into 14-16 logs about 4" long and place onto a baking sheet.  Cover and refrigerate for an hour or up to overnight.
  3. Prepare grill to medium heat.  Place the kebabs on the grill and let cook until desired temperature is reached, turning once.  A couple of minutes before they are done cooking, baste with the glaze and turn again.  Let cook a minute or so, glaze the top and turn cooking for another minute or two.
  4. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Glaze
  1. Place the molasses, olive oil, garlic and salt into a blender and puree until smooth.  Keep at room temperature until ready to use.
