Toffee Bars
Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter, room temperature
- 1 c. brown sugar
- pinch of salt
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 1/2 t. vanilla
- 2 c. flour
- 1 (12 oz) pkg. chocolate chips
- 1 1/4 c. coarsely chopped pecans
Instructions
- Beat the sugar, butter and salt in a large bowl until smooth. Add the egg yolk and vanilla, continue to beat until creamy.
- Turn the mixer on low and stir in the flour until well incorporated.
- Press dough into a 9x13" baking pan that has been lined with aluminum foil.
- Bake in a preheated 350* oven for about half an hour, until set with golden brown edges.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top of the bars and return to the oven for about 5 minutes. Remove and use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate chips over the top of the bars.
- Sprinkle with the nuts and cool in the pan. When cooled completely, use the foil to take the bars out of the pan to a cutting board. Using a sharp knife cut into small bars.
