Slow Cooker Shrimp Boil paired with a Cremant Cocktail for a fun Holiday Celebration #FishFridayFoodies #Winophiles

Shrimp Boils are not just for summertime fun.  They can be just as fun during the busy holiday season utilizing your slow cooker to free up your time for gift wrapping and cookie baking.

Shrimp Boil and Kir Royale

I served my shrimp boil up with a traditional French Cocktail, a Kir Royale, often served at Christmas gatherings and inspired by the memoir, My Grape Christmas.
My Grape Christmas

This is the third in a series by Canadian, Laura Bradbury, who met her future husband while an exchange student in France.  This tells of their first Christmas back in France after he had moved to be with her in Canada.  There were lots of festivities and lots of Kir Royales using Cremant from Burgundy where her fiance's family resides.

Ingredients for Kir Royale

Kir Royale is a Kir Cocktail that uses Cremant instead of Champagne.  It is much less expensive, yet just as delicious and festive.  It is made using a Tablespoon of Creme de Cassis and then filling the flute with Cremant.  It turns a gorgeous color and tastes wonderful with bubbles that tickle the nose.

It was providence that I was reading this memoir at the same time that Susannah of Avvinare invited us to join her to Celebrate the Holidays with Cremant.  We are all meeting up for twitter chat tomorrow morning to talk about this lovely sparkling wine and how it plays so nicely into holiday celebrations.  You are welcome to join us a 11 AM ET following #Winophiles.  Here are some of the topics we will be discussing........

Shrimp Boil

When Sue of Palatable Pastime asked us to join her in a Holiday Seafood Boil for our Fish Friday group I knew that the Kir Royale would be a great pairing.

I decided to make my shrimp boil using the slow cooker on a day that I was busy in the kitchen making cookies and breads for the holidays.  I served the corn on the side as it is not corn season here in Michigan.

Let's take a look at what other seafood boils are being shared today.......

This makes a wonderful, easy meal that can easily be served to family during the week or shared with guests over the weekend.  Hope your holidays are going smoothly.  Only 8 more days until the 1st Day of Christmas!!
