Halloween Marble Bundt #Choctoberfest #BundtBakers

Starting with 2 boxed cake mixes makes this cake quick and easy.  Perfect for surprising your little ghosts and goblins this Halloween.  As an added bonus you will have enough batter left for a dozen cupcakes.

This wonderful bundt cake starts with an orange flavored batter and then has rich chocolate batter marbled throughout for a classic flavor profile.

I am teaming up with the folks over at Choctoberfest again today.  Please pop on over to my Welcome Post to learn all about it and to enter to win some amazing prizes.

Tuesday I combined Choctoberfest with World Bread Day and shared an amazing Chocolate Yeast Bread.

Today I am combining Choctoberfest with my Bundt Bakers group.  The theme this month for Bundt Bakers, chosen by my friend Sue of Palatable Pastime is Marble Cakes.  I knew I wanted to make a Chocolate Marble Cake so that I could combine the two events.  I LOVE when I am able to do that.

I decided to take it easy on myself and use boxed cake mixes.  I bought a vanilla and a chocolate mix.  I mixed them both per package directions and then I add orange extract and orange food coloring to the vanilla cake.  After all, Halloween is right around the corner so I wanted to make something apropos for the season.

I used all of the orange cake batter but only half of the chocolate cake batter.  You know what that means?  Yes, cupcakes!!  This was perfect because our church was having a bake sale.  I could take them a dozen cupcakes and keep the bundt for when we returned from our Haunted Hayride Adventure.

The cupcakes were all chocolate, perfect for Choctoberfest, white frosting with orange and black sprinkles made them very popular at the bake sale.

The cake was a huge hit with all of the kids after the hayride and during the bonfire.  Between the S'mores and this cake we had some sugared up teens.  Some of them stayed the night.  When I awoke at 4:30 am they were still giggling and carrying on.

Let's stop here for a moment and take a look at the other Marbled Bundts that our group is sharing this month.
#BundtBakers is a group of Bundt loving bakers who get together once a month to bake Bundts with a common ingredient or theme. You can see all our of lovely Bundts by following our Pinterest board. We take turns hosting each month and choosing the theme/ingredient. Updated links for all of our past events and more information about BundtBakers, can be found on our home page.

And now let's visit all the wonderful Choctoberfest recipes being shared today.

Starting with 2 boxed cake mixes makes this cake quick and easy. Perfect for surprising your little ghosts and goblins this Halloween. As an added bonus you will have enough batter left for a dozen cupcakes.

ingredients:

1 vanilla cake mix plus ingredients called for on the box
1 chocolate cake mix plus ingredients called for on the box
1 t. pure orange extract
orange food coloring
1 container vanilla frosting
Orange and Black Sprinkles

instructions:

Make the vanilla cake mix per package directions.  Whisk in the orange extract and the food coloring until desired hue is reached, keeping in mind that the color will lighten while baking.

Make the chocolate cake mix per package directions.

Pour half of the orange flavored cake mix into the bottom of a bundt pan that has been treated with baking spray.  Add half of the chocolate cake mix.  Pour the remaining orange flavored cake mix over the top.  Using a knife or chopstick, swirl the chocolate into the orange cake mix.

Divide the remaining chocolate batter into a 12 cup cupcake pan that has been sprayed with baking spray or lined with paper cups.

Bake both the bundt and the cupcakes per package direction.

Remove to wire racks to cool.  When completely cool, frost the cupcakes.  Microwave the remaining frosting for about 30 seconds and drizzle over the cooled bundt cake.  Sprinkle both the cupcakes and the bundt cake with Halloween themed jimmies or sprinkles.
