Happy New Beer's Eve everyone. Yes, evidently this is a thing and today is the day!! I decided to celebrate with burgers made with beer brats and topped with beer braised veggies. They were scrumptious!
- Wendy from A Day in the Life on the Farm grilled up Bratwurst Burgers.
- Sneha of Sneha’s Recipe served up Corn & Peas Pulao With Beer Chicken Tandoori.
- Karen of Karen’s Kitchen Stories baked up some Double Levain Pilsner Bread.
- Sue of Palatable Pastime shares Michelada.
- Camilla from Culinary Adventures with Camilla shared her Porter-Caramelized Onion Dip.
- Ann of Simple and Savory whipped up some Spicy Beer BBQ Sauce
As soon as the snow is gone and the weather starts to warm a bit, I start craving burgers on the grill. In celebration of New Beer's Eve I mixed some beer brats with some ground beef.
Bratwurst Burgers
Ingredients
- 1 T. butter
- 1 sweet onion, sliced
- 6-8 mini sweet peppers, assorted colors, sliced
- 1 c. dark beer (I used Guinness)
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 3 links beer bratwurst, skins removed
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 5 slices cheese (I used Muenster)
- 5 Hamburger Buns
- Condiments of choice
Instructions
- Combine the bratwurst and ground beef. Shape into 5 patties of equal portions. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over med high heat. Add the onions and peppers. Cook for a few minutes until fragrant.
- Add the beer to the vegetables and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are tender and beer is mostly gone.
- Place the burgers on a gas grill set to medium heat. Cook for 10 minutes. Flip the burgers and cook for another 6-8 minutes, until an internal temperature of 160* is reached. Lay a slice of cheese on each, close the lid and allow cheese to melt.
- Place the burgers onto the buns and top with the braised vegetables and desired condiments.
