So we chose to go to Coopertown for the airboat ride today.
First they had a class about all the animals of the Everglades.
Then we got on the boat and went on a tour.
That bird there is a Purple Gallinule named Henry.
He came right up to see our tour guide.
We, of course, saw numerous alligators.
And we were lucky enough to see a Snail Kite which is nearly extinct.
When we got back Ryan posed with a baby gator.
Lili's turn.
And our turn.
It was a fun way to spend the morning.
Then we had lunch on site. Their specialty was, of course, alligator tail and frog legs. While having lunch the kids asked if we could go to South Beach for some shopping. So we drove down there. Drove around in circles going nowhere fast until finally Frank pulled up in front of a restaurant on Ocean Blvd. that had valet parking. $25 for parking to go and have drinks that were $10 each while the kids went shopping.
One and a half hours to enjoy our drink and people watch while the kids shopped
Priceless!!!
Now we are back home, and the kids are laying out for the last time in front of the pool, hoping to get a tan before returning home.
Yesterday, when I asked the kids if they liked Lasagna, Lily reminisced that her Grandma Kaastra used to make Lasagna and "Cheese Bread" every Sunday. Lily said the Cheese Bread was the best so I had her send a message to her Grandma asking for the recipe. We are having it with our Lasagna tonight. I hope it lives up to her expectations.

ReplyDeleteIt was David, Thanks for taking care of things for us while we were gone.
DeleteThose drinks looked great. And just people watching and drinking What a way to spend the time. I would much rather do that than shop with teenagers!! That bread looks luscious.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was nice having an hour to ourselves. We had a lot of laughs at other's expense. There is some seriously funny people watching in South Beach!!!
