The Sunday Funday Bloggers are Grilling today.......
Stacy of Food Lust People Love invited us all to join her in sharing Grilling Recipes today. We grill nearly every meal during the summer so easy peasy....the hardest part was coming up with a recipe I hadn't already shared. Let's see what the others grilled up........

I saw a photo of a pizza burger on facebook. It was a burger topped with mozzarella cheese and pizza sauce. I thought that a pizza burger sounded good but that I would definitely add a little more pizzazz to a pizza burger. I decided to toss together some Mozzarella with Italian Herbs and some quartered Pepperonis and use this as a stuffing for my burgers.
Then I decided to grill up some of my favorite pizza toppings. In my case this is Mushrooms, Onions and Peppers. You can add whatever toppings you would like. The Teen suggests a Grilled Pineapple Slice next time. Yes....she is one of those......
I had envisioned an ooey gooey gush of cheese when I cut the burger but that didn't happen, as you can see. The flavor was there but the cheese kind of melted into the burger. Next time I will use a slice of fresh Mozzarella, sprinkled with the seasoning and topped with several Pepperoni. Hopefully, that will acheive the wow factor I was looking for.
I will let you know how that works out because I will definitely be making these burgers again....and yes, I will grill a pineapple slice for the spoiled rotten Teen that lives in my house LOL.

Stuffed Pizza Burgers
These burgers stuffed with Mozzarella Cheese and Pepperoni then topped with Pizza Sauce, Peppers, Onions and Mushrooms are like having a Pizza Party on a Bun.
Prep time: 10 MinCook time: 30 MinTotal time: 40 Min
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. ground beef
- 1/2 c. shredded Mozzarella
- 1 t. Italian Herb Seasoning
- 12 Pepperoni slices, quartered
- 1 bell pepper, any color or asst. colors, sliced into strips
- 1/2 Vidalia onion, sliced
- 8 oz. sliced mushrooms
- 1 T. olive oil
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 Brioche Buns
- Pizza Sauce for topping
Instructions
- Divide the burger into 4 oz portions and form into patties. Using the bottom of a glass or a large spoon make an indentaion in the center of 4 of the patties. Toss together the Mozzarella, Italian herbs and pepperoni pieces. Place 1/4 of this mixture into the indentaions of the patties. Top with the remaining 4 patties and press the edges together well to seal shut. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
- Toss the peppers, onions, and mushrooms with the olive oil, salt and pepper. Place into a grill pan and cook over high heat, tossing occasionally, for about 20 minutes, until tender and slightly charred in spots. Move the vegetables to the outside portion of the grill to stay warm while grilling burgers.
- Grill the burgers over medium high heat until cooked to desired temperature.
- Place the burgers onto the buns, top with Pizza Sauce and Grilled Vegetables and serve.

I've never had great success with stuffed burgers. We used to make pizza burgers growing up. Thanks for the memory-reminder. I love your extra toppings and agree with a slice of moz next time.
ReplyDeleteYes, I will let you know how that works Debra.
DeleteI'll bet the cheese and pepperoni add a lot of flavor and moisture to the patties, never mind that the cheese doesn't ooze out! I'm totally trying this, Wendy!
ReplyDeleteYes, the flavor was wonderful and I will be making them again...hopefully I will get that ooze I'm looking for.
DeleteStuffed Pizza Burger is a new recipe for me, but worth trying out with some soya mince. With cheese and pizza sauce and your topping of mushrooms, sounds very flavorful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mayuri. Enjoy.
DeleteLucky spoiled Teen! These sound delicious, even if the cheese didn't gush.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen, gives me an excuse to make them again LOL.
DeleteBurgers look really tempting... something that kids will love too...
ReplyDeleteFor sure Sneha.
