Chocolate Crepes

It's time for Bread Bakers......

BreadBakers
I am hosting this month's edition of Bread Bakers and asked the others to join me in making Breads that contain Chocolate in honor of Valentine's Day tomorrow.

Let's take a look at what everyone is sharing........

#BreadBakers is a group of bread loving bakers who get together once a month to bake bread with a common ingredient or theme. Follow our Pinterest board right here. Links are also updated each month on this home page.

We take turns hosting each month and choosing the theme/ingredient.

Chocolate Crepes

Crepes are such an elegant dish to serve, yet so very easy to make.  They can be served for any meal and they can be sweet or savory.

I have made several chocolate breads including Chocolate Cinnamon Rolls, Chocolate Yeast Bread, and this Chocolate Bunny Bread.

I have also made numerous breads that contain chocolate like this Pumpkin Bread with Chocolate Chips, Chocolate Croissants, and Chocolate Chip Sourdough Muffins.

I hope that you get to spend your Valentine's Day with all of those that make your life special. In my life, I am blessed with a wonderful spouse, 6 amazing children, 2 adorable grandchildren, and 4 lovable dogs.

Prep time: 10 MinCook time: 20 MinInactive time: 15 MinTotal time: 45 Min

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 T. butter, melted + more for pan
  • 2 t. vanilla
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. cocoa powder
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 T. powdered sugar
  • 1 c. heavy cream
  • 1 T. strawberry syrup
  • raspberries or strawberries, if desired.

Instructions

  1. Place the milk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, sugar, salt, flour, and cocoa powder in a blender and blend until completely incorporated and smooth. Let rest for 15 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, in the large bowl of a stand mixer, fitted with the whisk attachment, cream the cheese with the sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Lower the mixing speed and gradually stir in the cream until incorporated. Add the syrup, then increase the speed until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  4. Heat a 10" skillet over medium heat. Coat the bottom with a little butter. Stir the batter and pour a scant 1/4 of batter into the pan, swirling to evenly coat the bottom.
  5. Cook until the edges start to crisp, about half a minute, flip and cook for another 10 seconds. Remove and set aside. Continue in this manner until all the batter is used.
  6. To serve, roll or fold the desired number of crepes onto a plate. Top with the whipped cream and sprinkle with fresh berries, if desired.1
