A Fun Halloween Birthday Feast featuring Supernatural Spook Light Pinot Gris Orange Wine #WorldWineTravel

I was excited when I was able to find a wine from New Zealand's North Island.  I was thrilled when I found a bottle of orange wine that was perfect for the upcoming Halloween celebrations.

It's time for World Wine Travel........

Linda of My Full Wine Glass is hosting our group this month and invited us to join her in exploring New Zealand outside of Martinborough as we had visited Martinborough last month.  You can learn more by reading her invitation post.

Birthday Celebration

I took dinner over to my daughter Amy's house to celebrate her dinner.  I decided to bring this wine with me to add to the fun.

Wine with cheese bites

And this wine is fun....from the color, to the name, to the bottle top cap, it screams party.  I wasn't sure what to expect but had great hopes as this wine is 100% skin fermented Pinot Gris.  This wine from Hawke's Bay is organic and naturally produced.  It has an alcohol content of 12% and was purchased from Total Wine for $30.00.

According to Supernatural wines they "decided to take the name of this Pinot Gris from the unexplained orange light phenomenon observed in the Ozarks of southwestern Missouri and northeastern Oklahoma — aka 'spook light.' "

Wine with Dinner

I poured the wine as I served appetizers of Jack O Lantern Cheese Bites and apples and then finished the glass with a dinner of Caesar Salad, Chicken Alfredo Lasagna and Garlic Bread Sticks.

The wine poured a gorgeous orange and was crisp and bright.  It was a great pairing with both the appetizers and the dinner.  I also thought it would be great with popcorn while watching a Spooky Halloween Movie or maybe watching The Ozarks, which is also pretty frightening.
