Terriyaki Ribs #NationalSlowCookerMonth

You can still enjoy BBQ Ribs in the winter with the cold wind blowing and snow on the ground and covering the grill.  Just pull out your Slow Cooker, add some Asian Seasonings and go on about your business.

It's National Slow Cooker Month!!

Ashley of Cheese Curd In Paradise is hosting this event to be held today, Wednesday and Friday.

Welcome to our #NationalSlowCookerMonth Celebration!

January is National Slow Cooker Month and this week we are celebrating all things slow cooker! We have delicious recipes from across the country to fill your meal plans with delicious slow cooker recipes!

ribs in slow cooker

I use my slow cooker year round.  In the colder months it is wonderful for stews, pot roasts, soups....all those warm, comfort foods that get us through the year as well as those things, like ribs, that you might normally cook outside but the weather is keeping you in.

In the summer, it is wonderful because you can make dinner without heating up your house. During the holidays, it is priceless, freeing up oven and stove top for other things.

Before I retired, I would often use the slow cooker for dinners.  Nothing is better than coming home after a long day to wonderful, homey aromas and dinner ready to be put on the table.

These ribs do take an additional step. After they are cooked and so tender that they are starting to fall off the bones, transfer them to a cookie sheet, slather them with the sauce in which they cooked and put them under the broiler for a few minutes.

In the case of this dinner, I had invited my brother and his wife over.  On the day they were coming, we ended up having to attend a funeral.  This recipe was perfect.   I put the ribs on to cook before we left the house.

When we got home it was just a matter of cooking up some Japanese Rice and pulling out the coleslaw I had made the night before.  I even had time to set out some appetizers so that when my brother and sister in law arrived we were able to relax with some wine and catch up with each other before dinner.

The Japanese Rice was a perfect side for these ribs.  I am sharing that recipe at 10 AM today so make sure you pop over and take a look.  You can use any coleslaw that you like.  This Asian Slaw is wonderful with it.

I will be on Wednesday with another slow cooker recipe.  Please stop by tomorrow as I share a recipe for a fun bread that is naturally colored with fresh beets.  So delicious!!!!
